Rather than offer a more general M.B.A. sequence, the University of Wisconsin—Madison’s Wisconsin School of Business has designed its M.B.A. program around career specializations. The school believes that greater expertise in a focused area will bring more value to the firms that students enter once they graduate. Students in the full-time M.B.A. program can choose specializations such as Brand and Product Management, Marketing Research, and Operations and Technology Management, among others.

Along with a full-time program, the Wisconsin School of Business also offers specialized graduate programs in Actuarial Science, Global Real Estate, Quantitative Finance, and Accountancy, as well as a part-time M.B.A., executive M.B.A., and Ph.D. program. The school also offers a customizable executive M.B.A. experience known as The Manager’s Program. Companies have the opportunity to partner with the school in order to offer select employees an executive education that integrates work and class projects.

The school offers more than 30 graduate student organizations including the Business Action for Sustainable Enterprise and the International Business Student Association. The Wisconsin School of Business has more than 37,000 alumni worldwide and some of the most notable include Donald Goerke, the inventor of SpaghettiOs; David Lesar, chairman, president, and CEO of Halliburton Energy Services; and Richard Notebaert, former chairman and CEO of telecommunications firms Qwest Communications, International, Inc., Tellabs, Inc., and Ameritech Corp.
