The University of Notre Dame Law School is the oldest Roman Catholic law school in the country. Students can complete two degrees through dual-degree programs including a J.D./M.B.A. through the Mendoza College of Business, and a J.D./M.Eng. through the College of Engineering.

The Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic gives students hands-on experience with clients in areas including disability benefits, tenants’ rights, and wills and trusts. There are about 30 student organizations to get involved in as well, including the Irish Law Society and the Sports, Communications and Entertainment Law Forum, and several law journals such as the American Journal of Jurisprudence; the Journal of College and University Law, the nation's only law review solely for higher education law issues; and the Notre Dame Law Review. Through the Notre Dame London Law Program, students in the top 80 percent of their first year class can spend their second year or a summer studying abroad in England. Back in South Bend, Ind., law students may apply to live in university-owned housing, though there is not space for all who apply.

For those who pursue public interest work after graduation, Notre Dame has a Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) for qualifying students. Notable alumni of Notre Dame Law School include Brian Moynihan, chief executive officer of Bank of America; Pete King, a U.S. Representative from New York; and Andrew Napolitano, a legal analyst for FOX News Channel and FOX Business Network.
