5 Scholarships for Future Entrepreneurs

Majoring in Entrepreneurship is a great educational opportunity for students to learn the ins and outs of running their own business and understanding the various factors that determine whether a business thrives or fails.

When it comes to financial aid, searching for opportunities that are specific to one’s intended major or discipline is an effective way to narrow down those options and improve the chances of securing the much-needed funds to afford a college education.

Below are just a few of the many scholarships out there just for students planning on pursuing a career in Entrepreneurship.

NASE Foundation Future Entrepreneur Scholarship

Award Amount: One (1) recipient will receive $12,000. One (1) runner-up will receive $4,000, which is not renewable.

College ScholarshipsRenewable? Yes (does not apply to the runner-up award). If eligibility requirements are met and maintained, winners of the NASE Foundation Future Entrepreneurship Scholarship can renew their award in the amount of $4,000 for the remainder of their undergraduate years of study.

Who is Eligible? High school seniors, college freshmen, sophomore and juniors are eligible to apply for the NASE Foundation Future Entrepreneurship Scholarship. Additional criteria includes but is not limited to maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher and owning/operating their own business.

The Doc Cohen Franchising Scholarship

Award Amount: One (1) recipient will receive $4,500, plus an extra $500 to be used specifically as a travel stipend for the winner to attend the IFA (International Franchise Association) Annual Convention.

Renewable? No

Who is Eligible? Applicants must be current college students enrolled at an accredited college or university. They must also be majoring in any of the following disciplines: Entrepreneurship, Business, Finance, Marketing, Franchising, Hospitality or Food Service.

Young Entrepreneur Awards

Award Amount: The awards range from $1,000 – $10,000. One (1) student chosen for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award will receive $1,000. Four (4) students chosen for the NFIB National Young Entrepreneurship Awards will receive $5,000 each. One (1) student chosen for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award will receive $10,000.

Renewable? No.

Who is Eligible? Applicants must be graduating high school seniors getting ready to enter their freshmen year of college. They must plan on attending an accredited 2 or 4-year college, university, vocational/technical school but it cannot be a for-profit educational institution. Additionally, students considering applying for the Young Entrepreneur Awards must be running their own small business.

Spirit of the Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund

Award Amount: The average awarded amount for the Spirit of the Entrepreneurship Scholarship Fund is approximately $2,500.00.

Renewable? N/A

Who is Eligible? The Spirit of the Entrepreneurship Scholarship Fund is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Applicants must also be majoring in Entrepreneurship.

Robert & Myrna Kuk Entrepreneurship Scholarship

Award Amount: Each semester the University of North Dakota will choose one (1) recipient, who will receive $900.

Renewable? No.

Who is Eligible? Applicants must be a resident of North Dakota, demonstrate financial need, be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of North Dakota and majoring in Entrepreneurship. Additionally, they must be planning on owning/managing their own business.
